Brazil has reclaimed its place atop the world footballing order with Real Madrid’s electrifying forward, Vinicius Jr., winning the FIFA The Best Player of the year 2024.

Vinicius Jr. has joined the likes of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Romário, and Kaká to the FIFA World Best title.

While Manchester City’s Rodri claimed the Ballon d’Or in October, the FIFA The Best award is proof of Vinicius Jr.’s dominance in the 2024 football season.

Vinicius Jr. Acceptance Speech

In his acceptance speech, the São Gonçalo-born star shared an emotional reflection on his journey, acknowledging the humble beginnings that shaped his path to greatness.

“It was so far away that it seemed impossible to get here. I was a kid who only played soccer barefoot on the streets of São Gonçalo, close to crime. I’m doing this for many kids who think it’s impossible, but who can get here,”

He expressed deep gratitude to his family, Flamengo – the club where his talent was first nurtured – and his Real Madrid teammates for their unwavering support throughout his career.

“I want to thank my family, who gave up their dream to live it for me. To my team, who helped me get here. I want to continue playing for Real Madrid for a long time, which is the biggest club in the world. I couldn’t forget Flamengo, who saw me on the fields and on the streets. I couldn’t get here without Flamengo,”
