Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Man (VDM), has fallen victim to cybercrime, losing ₦180 million from his NGO’s account. The outspoken social media activist is now collaborating with security experts to track down perpetrators and recover stolen funds.
How The Hack Happened
VDM revealed in a video that cybercriminals accessed funds through his NGO’s website. Recording from an airport lobby alongside Officer Joe, a security official aiding the investigation:
“Someone hacked our NGO website, stealing ₦180 million. I’ve been distressed for days,” VDM said.
Investigation and Recovery Efforts
Progress has been made:
- Suspect Apprehended: One suspect was arrested.
- Account Frozen: ₦20 million recovered, ₦160 million diverted.
- Temporary Shutdown: The NGO app closed to prevent further breaches.
VDM and his security team are traveling to Jos to locate the second suspect.
