The tragic death of 24-year-old Priscilla Ocheme has captured the attention of the Abuja community, prompting the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command to clarify the circumstances surrounding her passing. Priscilla was found dead after visiting a male friend in Abuja, and her family is now seeking justice.
Activist Harrison Gwamnishu has stepped in to assist Priscilla’s family in their quest for answers. They believe her death, which occurred after her visit to a fellow Madonna University alumnus at his home in the Lugbe area, may involve foul play.
Initial reports on social media suggested that Priscilla was murdered, but the police maintain that she died in a motorcycle accident. This assertion has raised doubts within her family, who accuse the authorities of potentially covering up the true details of the incident.
In a statement issued on October 22, police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh refuted any allegations of a cover-up, confirming that Priscilla’s death resulted from a motorcycle accident after she left her friend’s residence.
“The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to publications circulating on social media concerning the alleged murder of Miss Priscilla Ocheme by her boyfriend, EKHOSUEHI ISEH ELVIS, also known as Richard, at his residence in Lugbe,” the statement read.
Preliminary investigations indicate that EKHOSUEHI, a 30-year-old from Oredo-Benin in Edo State, had known Priscilla since their university days. Although they lost contact, they reconnected in 2019 when he returned to Abuja for his youth service. He was regarded as a family friend who frequently visited Priscilla’s home.
On September 22, 2024, following a minor disagreement with her mother, Priscilla left her family residence in Karu to visit EKHOSUEHI in Lugbe. Tragically, on her way home that evening, she was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident at the AMALA MOORE junction in Pyakasa. Witnesses, Jerry Amos and Moses Bala, who were nearby, rushed her to the Pyakasa Health Centre, and she was later transferred to the Federal Medical Centre Jabi, where she was pronounced dead.
The FCT Police Command has reiterated its commitment to maintaining professionalism and integrity throughout the investigation, assuring the public that it does not engage in unethical practices that could compromise trust. The safety of victims and justice remain their top priorities as they work diligently to clarify the details surrounding Priscilla’s untimely death.
